I met up with Penny and Sparrow & Field Guide outside Irving Plaza, and it felt less like an introduction and more like stepping back into a conversation with old friends. Inside, the venue buzzed like a broken television. Cables curled like snakes. Someone hummed an old gospel tune. We slipped out after soundcheck and ended up at a place up the street to eat oysters off cold plates & sip martinis sharp as glass. Every guy at the table next to us had a Patek showing, all gleaming on their wrists, while I sat in tattered clothes, stained in paint feeling like a misplaced extra. But at our table, I felt like I belonged in the film we were making together.

Yesterday I was with While She Sleeps at Irving Plaza and after soundcheck Loz looked at me and looked up at the balcony and said “If I wanted to get up there during the set would that ladder stage right get me there” and I look and said yeah why, he replied “I think ill jump at the end of the set ill give you a look so you know”.
